Due to the drastic increase in temperatures around the globe, the extent and density of bark beetles in the past two decades has been far greater than normal. Not only the insects are expanding to new regions, but their hatching periods are also earlier and they reproduce more often. Perhaps even more worrying is that the insects are beginning to target new tree species such as pine-tree, that so far escaped the attack. The worlds conifer forests have survived for thousands of years of bark beetle infestation, thanks to their defense mechanisms of releasing toxic volatile substances. Unfortunately, these mechanisms are now gravely affected by dryness. The new BASEH KS-BS scraper does an excellent job in stopping bark beetle spread by peeling the wood. The bark beetle needs an area of approximately 5 cm² to develop, and KS-BS has 4 triangle blades perfectly disposed at 2.4 cm on the active area. It is an attachment tool that can be fitted on most chainsaws available on the market.
